FCA Disclosures

Regulatory status and commercial disclosures

Car Insurance Expert is a UK editorial publisher. We are not an FCA-authorised insurance intermediary. This page documents what we do, what we don't do, and our commercial relationships.

1. We are not FCA-authorised

Car Insurance Expert is a publishing business, not a regulated insurance intermediary. We do not arrange contracts of insurance, do not advise on the merits of one policy over another, and do not make personal recommendations. Information published on this site is general in nature.

2. We are an "introducer" only

Where we link to insurer or comparison-site partners, we act as an introducer — passing your interest to firms which are FCA-authorised. The actual contract of insurance, advice (where given) and policy administration are matters between you and the authorised firm. Our role ends at the click-through.

3. Commission disclosure

We receive commission from some partner sites when you click through and complete a policy purchase. The current major partners are AWIN affiliate network (covering most leading UK comparison sites and insurers), Quotezone, and specialist brokers including Adrian Flux. Commission ranges from £15 to £80 per completed policy and does not affect the price you pay.

4. No incentive to recommend specific products

Our editorial guidance (insurer rankings, broker recommendations) is based on market presence, transparency, consumer reviews and topical relevance. We do not weight recommendations by commission rates — see our Editorial Standards.

5. Where to complain

If you have a complaint about an insurer or comparison-site partner we've linked to, please complain to that firm first, then to the Financial Ombudsman Service. If your complaint is about the content of this site or how we've introduced you, email editorial@carinsuranceexpert.co.uk in the first instance.

6. Consumer Duty

The FCA's Consumer Duty (in force since July 2023) requires that consumers in financial services aren't exposed to foreseeable harm. Although we're not directly regulated, we apply Consumer Duty principles voluntarily — clear pricing information, transparent product information, no misleading content.
