Who we are

Car Insurance Expert (carinsuranceexpert.co.uk) is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. Registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

What we collect

Automatically (analytics): page views, referring URL, anonymised IP, browser type, session duration — via Google Analytics and Ahrefs Analytics. This data is aggregated and used to understand audience behaviour. No personally identifying information is stored in this dataset.

Voluntarily (forms): if you email editorial or fill in a contact form, we store the email address and message contents for the purpose of replying. Retained for up to 2 years.

Affiliate referrals: when you click through to an insurer or comparison-site partner, the partner may set their own cookies and collect data per their own privacy policies. We receive only aggregate referral metrics (clicks, conversions), not your personal details.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained for 14 months; voluntarily-submitted email correspondence for up to 2 years; affiliate-referral records for 2 years. After these periods, data is deleted or fully anonymised.

We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices or applicable law change. Material changes will be notified via a banner on the site for at least 30 days.
