Jaguar F-Pace insurance cost UK 2026
The Jaguar F-Pace costs around £1,550 a year to insure comprehensively in 2026 and spans insurance groups 23–50 — the entry 2.0 diesel is the cheapest to cover, while the 550PS SVR sits at group 50, the very top of the scale.
Direct answer
What does it cost to insure a Jaguar F-Pace?
A Jaguar F-Pace typically costs about £1,550 a year on a comprehensive policy in 2026 for an experienced driver — Finder UK pins the average at £1,553 — with most standard diesel and petrol quotes falling in a £1,200–£2,000 band once postcode, mileage and no-claims history are settled. That sits well above the Confused.com price index all-driver average of £719 for a quoted premium (Q2 2026); the ABI tracks the average premium actually paid nearer £566, a different basis you shouldn’t blend with the quoted figure.
The F-Pace is a wide car on the group scale — 23 to 50 — so what you actually pay depends heavily on which one you buy. A 2.0-litre diesel and the 550PS SVR are barely the same car as far as an underwriter is concerned. Four things set the price:
- Insurance group. The range runs from group 23 for the 2.0 D165 diesel up to group 50 for the SVR Edition 1988 (Parkers/Thatcham). Most sensible buys — the diesels and the P250 petrol — sit in the high-20s to low-40s.
- Value and badge. The F-Pace starts around £47,000 and a well-specced petrol nudges £56,000, with the SVR far beyond that. A premium price tag means a premium claim if the car is written off or stolen.
- Aluminium body and JLR repair costs. The F-Pace uses an aluminium-intensive shell, and Jaguar Land Rover approved bodyshops and labour rates are dear. A knock that would be routine on a mainstream SUV can be a specialist repair here.
- Theft history. JLR models were targeted heavily in the keyless-theft wave of recent years, which pushed some premiums up and, for a time, made a handful of insurers wary. Software security updates and a Thatcham-approved tracker have eased that, but it still feeds into the price.

Jaguar F-Pace insurance cost by driver age (2026)
Age swings an F-Pace premium more than anything else on the quote form. The indicative annual comprehensive figures below are modelled from 2026 age-band benchmarks published by Confused.com and the ABI, scaled to a group-34 F-Pace 2.0 P250 R-Dynamic SE. Treat them as directional, not quotes.

| Driver age band | Indicative annual comprehensive premium | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 17–24 | £3,600–£5,500 | Highest-risk band; a group-30-plus premium SUV is very costly — many insurers decline the SVR outright |
| 25–34 | £1,900–£2,900 | Falls sharply with experience and no-claims discount |
| 35–64 | £1,200–£2,000 | Lowest-risk band; around the F-Pace average of ~£1,550 |
| 65+ | £1,300–£2,100 | Edges up again as insurers price age-related risk |

By version
F-Pace insurance groups by engine and trim
Engine choice is what really moves the F-Pace’s group rating. The 2.0-litre diesels sit low on the scale; the six-cylinder petrols climb into the 40s; and the V8 SVR is a world of its own at the top.
| Version | Engine / drivetrain | Insurance group (of 50) |
|---|---|---|
| Prestige | 2.0 D165 diesel, RWD | 23 |
| R-Sport | 2.0 D200 MHEV diesel, AWD | 30 |
| R-Dynamic SE | 2.0 P250 petrol, AWD | 34 |
| R-Dynamic HSE | 3.0 P400 MHEV petrol, AWD | 43 |
| SVR | 5.0 V8 550PS, AWD | 48 |
| SVR Edition 1988 | 5.0 V8 550PS, AWD | 50 |

Save money
Cheapest way to insure a Jaguar F-Pace
- Buy a 2.0-litre diesel if the premium matters. The D165 and D200 sit in groups 23 to 30, a long way below the petrols, and they suit the F-Pace’s weight and motorway manners — so the cheapest version to insure is also a genuinely good one to own.
- Leave the SVR unless you truly want it. Groups 48 to 50 mean a premium in a different league; for most drivers under 40 it will be eye-watering, and some insurers won’t quote it at all.
- Fit and declare a Thatcham-approved tracker. Given the JLR theft history, a good tracker and secure overnight parking can meaningfully help the quote — and some insurers now expect one on higher-value cars.
- Pay annually rather than monthly. Spreading the cost adds APR interest; settling up front usually trims 10–15% off the total, which is real money on a £1,500-plus premium.
- Guard your no-claims discount and consider a modest voluntary excess. Several protected years can roughly halve a premium, and nudging the voluntary excess up a little further trims the annual figure — just keep it to a sum you could actually pay after a claim.
- Shop about three weeks before renewal. Quotes are usually keenest then, and letting a car of this value auto-renew is how owners quietly overpay by hundreds.
Alternatives worth weighing up: the F-Pace competes with the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC, which tend to land in a broadly similar group bracket for like-for-like engines; its own Range Rover Velar cousin shares much underneath but often insures a little dearer. FAQs
Jaguar F-Pace insurance: your questions answered
The Jaguar F-Pace spans insurance groups 23 to 50 of 50, per Parkers/Thatcham ratings. The 2.0 D165 diesel is lowest at group 23, the diesels and P250 petrol sit in the high-20s to mid-30s, the six-cylinder P400 petrol reaches the low-40s, and the 550PS SVR tops out at group 48 to 50. Engine choice is the main driver of where a given car lands.
Around £1,550 a year is typical for an experienced driver on a comprehensive policy in 2026; Finder UK puts the average at £1,553. Most standard diesel and petrol quotes fall between £1,200 and £2,000, while under-25s should budget £3,600 to £5,500 and the SVR costs far more again.
The 2.0 D165 diesel in Prestige trim, in group 23. Sticking with a four-cylinder diesel rather than a six-cylinder petrol, and avoiding the SVR entirely, is the single biggest lever on an F-Pace premium.
Several things combine: a list price from about £47,000, an aluminium-intensive body that needs specialist Jaguar Land Rover repair at premium labour rates, powerful engines on the pricier trims, and a JLR theft history that pushed premiums up on some models. Its groups of 23 to 50 span that whole picture, and the mid-range cars still price above the £719 national average.
The 550PS F-Pace SVR sits in insurance group 48 to 50, the very top of the scale, so expect a premium well clear of the standard car — commonly north of £2,500 a year for experienced drivers and far more for anyone under 30. A clean licence, a protected no-claims discount, a tracker and secure parking are the main ways to keep it in check.
It is part of the picture. Jaguar Land Rover cars were targeted heavily in the keyless-theft wave of recent years, which lifted premiums on affected models and briefly made some insurers cautious. Jaguar has rolled out security software updates, and fitting a Thatcham-approved tracker plus parking off-road or in a garage all help bring a quote down.
For like-for-like engines they are broadly comparable, both being premium mid-size SUVs. A 2.0 diesel F-Pace tends to sit close to an equivalent BMW X3 or Audi Q5, while the six-cylinder petrol and SVR F-Paces climb well above what most X3 buyers pay. Your postcode, mileage and no-claims history will usually move the number more than the badge does.
It is possible on the lower-group diesels but expensive: under-25s face roughly £3,600 to £5,500 a year, and many insurers will not quote the SVR for a young driver at all. A telematics policy and an experienced named driver help, but a smaller, lower-group car for the first few years is almost always the wiser move before stepping up to an F-Pace.
